Amy Shapton, B.S.E.E.
Lead Teacher Upper Primary Grades
|
Amy is the lead teacher for the lower middle level grade students. She strives at this level to fully embrace the conviction that every learner has distinct educational needs. She inspires her students to work at an advanced level to expand their abilities and realize their full academic potential.
Amy is specially trained to target the specific brain functions (such as attention controls, higher thinking abilities, or problem solving skills). Peer pressure is reduced and her students are taught about social cognition. She holds all her students accountable for achieving a high productive output, although not every student is expected to produce the same products. Amy is flexible in her curricular requirements. Students who benefit from accommodations are expected to compensate by performing additional work in the area of their strength or affinity.
A Magna Cum Laude (Highest Honors) graduate of Tennessee Tech University, Amy has a B.S. degree in Elementary Education and holds Tennessee teacher certification. She was formerly with Cookeville Regional Medical Centers childcare program and has work experience in several elementary schools in Putnam County. Amy and her husband, Jason, and their toddler son live in Cookeville. She has a gift for excellent classroom management and also has strives to help the parents become close partners in educating their child. Amy is also a talented musician as well.
